This custom designer home was centred around a stunning outlook onto Martha Cove. It is positioned on a sought-after waterfront lot with direct access to the waterway, a major feature that provided incredible opportunity and potential for this build.

The major challenges presented included strict design guidelines and a long and narrow block that was oriented towards the water view. To respond to these challenges, our team used carefully considered design principles to create the illusion of space, orienting the living areas to the full width of the block to overlook the marina.
A 20-metre rammed earth feature wall in the entry sets the tone for the build, elongating the space and drawing the eye to the spectacular water view. Floor to ceiling glazing makes the entry and passageway feel serene and airy, flooding the space with natural light.
A raised ceiling maximises the space and creates a sense of expansiveness. Access doors are concealed to create a natural flow, with custom cabinetry screening working spaces such as the laundry and powder rooms. Raw and natural materials are used throughout to create a tactile sense of luxury.
A large central courtyard is another key feature that has been integrated into this home, with a contemporary coastal garden providing a beautiful outlook for the guest bedroom and passageway.
Upstairs, the master bedroom cantilevers the ground floor, offering uninterrupted views of the marina. All bedrooms have been thoughtfully positioned to overlook either the water or courtyard, allowing residents to connect with the calming rhythms of nature.
This build was about creating a concept that was worthy of the site. A home that connected its occupants with a sense of place, capturing and accentuating the natural beauty of the bay.
