Wattle 19 was an original mid-century home that underwent a contemporary coastal renovation and extension, inspired by the modern luxury of Palm Springs.

The aim was to use clever transitions and design work to honour the original style of the house and create a distinctly modern feel.
An irregular low-lying block with a large easement presented initial challenges, prompting a creative and boundary-pushing response from our team. By angling the proposed extension, we were able to open up the main living space and create a greater connection to the outdoor entertaining areas.
This repositioning also allowed the extended roof to be built independently of the existing roofline, allowing the ceiling height to be raised and exposed rafters to become a striking feature of the home. Installing glazed windows filter the natural light, promote airflow and allowing cross ventilation throughout the home, whilst drawing attention to the established garden.
Natural finishes such as timber, leather and handmade tiles completed the space, creating a warm and inviting holiday feel. After a full refresh, stepping into this family home evokes the feeling of checking into a boutique hotel. It’s a stunning retreat and a delight for the senses.
